How We Keep You Safe

Letting someone into your home — or even just your routine — takes trust. Here's what we do to earn it.

How we screen every volunteer

Nobody gets matched with a senior until they've cleared every step.

Identity Verification

Every volunteer shows a government-issued ID and confirms their address before they can be matched with anyone.

Background Checks

We run criminal background checks, sex offender registry checks, and national database searches on every applicant.

Personal References

Each volunteer provides two references who can vouch for their character and reliability. We actually call them.

Safety Orientation

All volunteers complete a 90-minute orientation on safety protocols, boundaries, communication, and what to do in an emergency.

You're always in control

Cancel anytime

You can cancel or reschedule any visit with no penalty and no questions asked.

Rate every visit

After each visit, you can rate your volunteer. We use that to decide who gets matched again.

Request a different volunteer

If a match doesn't feel right for any reason, just tell us. We'll find someone else.

Set your own boundaries

You decide what help looks like — whether the volunteer comes inside, how long they stay, and what they do.

Your privacy is protected

Your info is encrypted. Volunteers only see what they need to help you — they don't get your full address until a match is confirmed. We never sell or share your data.

Emergency Protocols

Volunteers are trained to recognize emergencies and call 911 right away. VoGro is not a medical service, but our volunteers know what to do.

Report a Concern

If you ever feel uncomfortable or want to report an issue, contact us at (650) 555-0123 or safety@vogro.org. We take every report seriously and respond within 24 hours.

Ready to ask for help?

We do the homework so you don't have to worry about who shows up.
