Companionship Visits for Seniors in Palo Alto

Sometimes what helps most is just having someone stop by. A conversation, a walk, a game of cards.

Days go by faster when someone stops in

A lot of seniors in Palo Alto live on their own, and days can go by without much real conversation. It's not dramatic — it's just quiet. And over time, the quiet adds up.

Having someone come by once or twice a week changes the shape of the week. It's not therapy or caregiving. Just a neighbor spending time.

What companionship visits look like

Conversation & Coffee

A relaxed visit over tea or coffee. Talk about anything — the news, family, memories, or what's for dinner.

Neighborhood Walks

A gentle walk around the block or through a nearby park. Fresh air and company make all the difference.

Games & Puzzles

Cards, board games, crosswords, or jigsaw puzzles. A fun way to stay sharp and enjoy someone's company.

Reading & Sharing

Reading aloud, looking through photo albums, or simply sitting together. Not every moment needs to be active.

Visits are typically 1–2 hours, once or twice a week
You choose the activities and pace — there's no agenda
Same volunteer each visit, so you build a real relationship
Volunteers are patient, kind, and genuinely enjoy spending time with seniors

Your comfort and safety come first

Every companion volunteer passes a thorough background check, provides references, and completes orientation specifically focused on respectful, patient interaction with seniors. If a match doesn't feel right, simply let us know and we'll find someone who's a better fit.

Our safety standards

I was skeptical at first, but the background checks and the way they matched me with Tom — who lives just three blocks away — made me feel safe. Tom's become a real friend.
